Welcome to our blog series, Pitching 101. Throughout this series, we will be offering pitching advice for all ages! Today we are starting out with an essential part of the pitch, the lunge.
Momentum and power start from the very beginning of the pitch. Your energy is created from the ground up. For Pitching, this energy and power come from hips, butt, and legs.
A pitcher won’t have anything behind her pitch if she simply steps off the mound – she needs to DRIVE off it. It’s important to create an athletic, explosive position in your push out to maximize your drive. More energy at the beginning of your pitch will create more energy at the end of your pitch.
Check out the drill below for working on exploding out into the pitch with the legs.
